Here’s a list of Frequently Asked Questions about Book values (and the answer of course):

How can I get values for my books?

  1. Click the menu button top left
  2. Now click “Update Values” (located under “Values”).
  3. It will now show all the book values that have been updated.

How do I remove all old manually entered values?

Any manually entered values from before have been moved to the “My Value” field and will be used “as the value for that book. If you don’t want that and rather use our values, you can remove all your “My Values” in one go:

  1. Make sure all your books are in view in your list
  2. Click the checkbox icon in front of a book to enter Selection Mode
  3. Click the “All” checkbox at the top.
  4. Choose “Edit” (pencil icon) from the blue action bar at the top.
  5. Select the “My Value” field there and proceed. (don’t choose any other field!!!)
  6. Leaving it empty and then saving it will clear the “My Value” field for all books that you selected.

What can I expect when updating values for my books?

The values are based on average selling prices of books on several used book sites on the internet. This system is purely based on ISBN lookups and average ALL prices for the same ISBN.

This means that the system does not take into account the condition and completeness of your copy. The value will be “just” an average of all available copies. Also: with close to 40 million books in our CLZ Core database, we will not be able to provide a value for all books in your collection. In particular, books without ISBN will not get values.

Currently, our Core and Cloud statistics show that CLZ Books users will get a value for around 83% of their books, on average.
Your mileage may vary of course. For example, if you own mostly mainstream US books with ISBN, your percentage may be closer to 90%. On the other hand, if you own mostly antique books, or only books in the Polish language, your coverage will probably be much lower.

The coverage of books with a value may slightly improve over time, as we are still gathering value information for less popular books.

What do the icons mean?

You might have noticed a person icon or “price-tag” icon in front of your values, here’s what they mean:

  • no icon means you’re just seeing the “Value” for that book from the value field.
  • the “price-tag” icon is to indicate that the value shown is the “Retail Price”.
  • the “person” icon is to indicate the value shown is the “My Value”.

Can I override the value I get from Core?

Yes, you can edit any book and go to the “Value” tab. In there, you can fill in the “My Value” field which will then be used as the value for that book. You can clearly see that a “My Value” is being used as the value by the “person” icon in front of the value.

Can I disable using Retail Price as the value?

If there is no value available on Core, but there is a Retail Price available, CLZ Books Web will use Retail Price as the value for that book. This is indicated by the “price-tag” icon in front of the value.

If you don’t want to use “Retail Price” as fallback for the value, you can switch this off in “Menu > Settings”: The setting is called “Use Retail Price as fallback for Value” – just disable it and it will not be used “as value” anymore (it will still be filled in the Retail Price field of course).

Is it possible to get the values downloaded in my currency?

Yes, the values will be automatically converted to the Currency you have selected in your Settings screen, using the current exchange rate.
Supported currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, NOK, SEK, DKK, CHF, ZAR, BRL, RUB, PLN, IND, CZK, SGD, JPY, and HUF.

Can I export the values to a text file, CSV or PDF?

Yes, find out how to export to Text / CSV or print to PDF and make sure to select the “Value” field when exporting!
